We currently have a wonderful, united team of fifteen full-time teachers and two long-term volunteers. Each one has real concern for the current and future needs of our students. Working closely together, supporting each other in times of difficulty, we all pitch in to reach our goal of giving our students a quality education in an environment of love and encouragement.

Our Principal, Connie Rao.
Born in California, Connie has lived in Varanasi for twelve years. She has a Master’s Degree in Linguistics with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language. She acts as principal and English instructor.
Junior Vice Principal, Nitu Jha
Nitu began teaching for us in 2004 and now has fifteen years teaching experience. While she continues to teach upper kindergarten with skill and patience, she has also taken on the responsibility of supervising the running of our younger classes. She approaches her work with dedication and discipline.
Lower Kindergarten teacher, Kiran Singh
Primarily teaches students who have gotten a late start in school. Although these children are a bit older than most kindergarten children, they still must start with ABCs, 123s, and क, ख, ग, घ (the Hindi alphabet). Kiran Ma’am teaches the children with skill, maintaining each child’s sense of dignity. She holds a Master’s Degree in Hindi and has been teaching for seven years.
1st grade teacher, Neeta Dey
With an excellent singing voice and firm discipline, Neeta takes our students on the next step of their educational journey. She has twelve years teaching experience and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Home Science, and Political Science.
3rd grade teacher, Sushmita Jaiswal
Sushmita joined Asha Deep in 2012. She brings youth and earnestness to the teaching team. She has a Bachelor's degree in Science and two years teaching experience.
5th grade instructor, Saroj Pandey
Holding a B.A. in history, Saroj excels in computer and math skills. With admirable dedication, Saroj Sir combines humor and serious study to lay the final layer of preparation as our older students move from junior to senior school. He has been teaching children for eleven years.
Hindi and Sanskrit teacher, Purnima Choubey
Purnima has been teaching at Asha Deep since 2010 and currently teaches Hindi and Sanskrit to our 7th and 8th graders. She holds a Master's Degree in Hindi and a Bachelor's degree in Education.
Science and Math teacher, Arpana Choubey
Recently joining the school, Arpana teaches science, math, and computer to children in classes 3-6. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree minoring in mathematics and statistics as well as a Bachelor's degree in Education. She works to assign our children hands-on activities whenever possible.
Computer teacher, Sanjay Shukla
Holding a Master's degree in Computer Application, Sanjay currently teaches computer to our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. While covering the theory presented in class textbooks, he also assigns practical lab work so that our students get plenty of hands-on experience in various applications. He has five years teaching experience.
Graduate tutor, Sandeep Patel
While Sandeep has taken two years leave for further education, he has not entirely left the school. With his 3rd grade teaching position on hold, Sandeep currently tutors our graduate students in science and math, helping them keep up with their peers in high school. He holds bachelor’s degrees in English and Political Science and has been serving underprivileged children for eight years.
Starting as a teacher with us in 2006, Siddharth is now in charge of the school's senior classes. He brings excellent English and critical thinking skills to his work and excels in juggling the many hats he has to wear as administrator. Not wanting to abandon the classroom entirely, he continues to teach Social Studies to our 6th graders. He holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce.
Lower Kindergarten teacher, Archana Singh
Holding a Master’s Degree in Sociology, Archana introduces our youngest students to the world of letters and numbers. She has brought her hobby of craft making into the school, helping other teachers to incorporate crafts into their classes and also producing stunning stage decorations and costumes for our last three annual public performances.
Upper Kindergarten teacher, Kaushalya Kumari
With six years teaching experience, she guides our students as they move on to reading, writing and ‘rithmatic. She also coordinates many of our extra-curricular activites including song and dance performances. After a year off for study last year, Kaushalya has nearly completed the course to obtain her Bachelor's degree in Education.
English teacher, Maya Mishra
With a B.A. in Political Science and fifteen years experience teaching English to young children, Maya joined Asha Deep in 2011. She motivates our students in grades Kindergarten through 2 to understand and learn a new language.
4th grade teacher, Kusum Verma
Kusum joined our teaching team this year with five years experience teaching young children. She has a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's degree in Psychology. She not only teaches our 4th graders, but is also in charge of our library. She has a heart for seeing children learn and succeed.
English teacher, Manju Rai
Joining Asha Deep just this year, Manju teaches English to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. She has a B.A. in English and five years experience teaching underprivileged children. She approaches her work with diligence and enthusiasm.
Social Studies teacher, Pratibha Singh
Teaching Social Studies in classes 2, 7, and 8, Pratibha also teaches Hindi in grades 6. Well-respected by our students, she holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies. She has a heart for helping the poor and has been with our school since the start of 2010.
English Teacher, Usha Agrawal
Usha serrved first as teacher then as principal for 45 years in a government school in South India, Last year when she learned of othe work we were doing to serve underprivileged, she immediately offered her services. She currently teaches English to our 7th and 8th graders. Although she has considerable experience, she remains humble and open to new teaching approaches.
English teacher, Rachana Buys
Rachana joined our school last year as part-time English teacher. She brings native English and a big heart into the classroom. Living in Varanasi for two years now, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Science (Physical Education) and has three years experience teaching ESL.
